About exhibition

What sort of city would you like to work in? What sort of city would you like to live in?
Would it be a safe city, a happy city or an efficient city?

"Optimization of the whole city"
Modern cities now face many issues. These issues are complex and interrelated, so it is no longer meaningful to tackle those issues individually.

NEC believes that the key to a city’s issues are already inside the city.
For example the huge amounts of data and every second, is capable of giving new insight into issues, their root causes and greater granularity of control.

Intelligent self-learning analytical engines can create more comprehensive solutions for a city based on their unique set of conditions. We call this "Cities that think".

To learn more about how NEC is building Cities that Think, please visit our booth where we will introduce you to solutions such as our face recognition and crowd behavior analysis technologies.

ContactTEL : 0774-95-5180 URL : http://sites.esep-membrane.com/technology

About exhibition Membrane-based separation is one of the promising technology for simplifying processes and reducing energy consumption drastically in future chemical and petroleum industries. In recent years, we have developed a method to prepare highly permeable, selective, and stable microporous ceramic membranes. For example, we have prepared a ceramic membrane with its pore size of 0.3-0.4 nm and applied it to separation of water/acetic acid mixture. The membrane selectively removed water (0.3 nm) and blocked permeation of acetic acid (0.43 nm), showing extremely high permeability and selectivity in comparison with previous studies. Since the method we have developed enable us to ultra-precisely control pore size of ceramic membranes, fine-tuning of membrane pore size is possible depending on target separation molecules. By installing the nano-ceramic membranes, we will develop and offer novel membrane-based separation technology for easy, eco-efficient separation.

About exhibition We are now developing medical devices as a venture company “OK Fiber Technology Co., Ltd.” originating from JAEA (Japan Atomic Energy Agency). These devices are test models created for the peripheral lung cancer using PDT (Photodynamic Therapy). There is PDT to treat the early-stage central-type lung cancer using a channel in the bronchoscope today in Japan. However, in the case of peripheral early stage lung cancer, it is hard to preserve residual lung function because there is no way to access difficult-to-reach peripheral areas of the lungs. With a diameter of 1mm, our composite-type optical fiberscope is able to perform a detailed examination and an accurate treatment at the edge of the lungs. It is expected to be a new laser therapeutic device for PDT.
Other, we also introduce the results of basic research of Radiobiology in JAEA.
